Metaxia's Ergo

Metaxia Chrona is a visual artist who was born in Athens, Greece and studied at Athens School of Fine Arts and at University College Falmouth (MA Fine Art: Contemporary Practice).  Her background includes icon-painting (egg-tempera technique) which she studied at Byzantine Icon Centre in Piraeus, Greece.  With her current work, applies her knowledge, already acquired in painting, to contemporary terms and discourses.  Dismantling the world around, she tries to rearrange and reconstruct images using traditional and contemporary means. Her latest work is based on the ideas of "de-materialization" as well as the "empathy of the line" using tapestry canvas -as the basic GRID - and "slow art" techniques.
